Flying into Seattle or Vancouver

Flying In

If you’re flying, we recommend you checking on pricing for flying into Vancouver, British Columbia, or Bellingham and Seattle, Washington for the best pricing. Keep in mind that if flying into Vancouver, everyone in your group must have a passport.

You will need to find ground transportation (i.e. rent a car or book a charter service) from these airports to Egmont, British Columiba so include that into your cost calculations. SeaTac airport has all of the usual car rental places but call us before you make any reservations; check the Travel Information document for companies  that give Young Life groups a discount. Also, we might be able to connect you with other groups and save everyone some money.

Flying In and Out of Seattle:

IN

For Hiking Trips:

Plan to arrive in Seattle by 1:00 pm Friday afternoon at the very latest in order to get to Egmont Friday night. We recommend landing in Seattle around noon or one to get out of the city before the afternoon traffic hits on Friday. If you fly in later than that, don’t plan to catch the ferry until early Saturday morning. Remember, you need to be in Egmont and ready to board water taxis to basecamp by noon on Saturday.

For Sea-Kayaking Trips:

8-Day Trips (start on Mondays): Plan to arrive in Seattle by 1:00 pm Sunday afternoon at the very latest to get to Egmont by Sunday night. If you fly in later, don't plan to catch the ferry until Monday morning.

7-Day Trips (start on Thursdays): Plan to arrive in Seattle by 1:00 pm Wednesday afternoon at the very latest to get to Egmont by Wednesday night. If you fly in later, don't plan to catch the ferry until Thursday morning.

OUT

For Both Hiking and Sea-Kayaking Trips: It is unlikely you will make a night flight out of Seattle the day your trip ends. Plan on flying out the next morning instead, or even the next night if you want to spend the day exploring a beautiful city.

Flying In and Out of Vancouver:

For Hiking Trips:

Plan to arrive in Vancouver by 2:30pm Friday afternoon at the very latest in order to get to Egmont Friday night. With this timing, you have a good chance of catching the 5:30pm ferry.  If you fly in later than that, and will not be able to make the 6:55 ferry, don't plan to catch the ferry until early Saturday morning. Remember, you need to be in Egmont and ready to board water taxis to basecamp by noon on Saturday.

For Sea-Kayaking Trips:

8-Day Trips (start on Mondays): Plan to arrive in Vancouver by 2:30 pm Sunday afternoon at the very latest to get to Egmont by Sunday night. If you fly in later than that, and will not be able to make the 6:55 ferry, don't plan to catch the ferry until early Monday morning.

7-Day Trips (start on Thursdays): Plan to arrive in Vancouver by 2:30 pm Wednesday afternoon at the very latest to get to Egmont by Wednesday night. If you fly in later than that, and will not be able to make the 5:30 ferry, don't plan to catch the ferry until early Thursday morning.
